Many people I work with enter psychotherapy simply because they want to feel better, and aren't quite sure what needs to change to do so. Others have a sense of what is wrong and need some space to explore and sort it out. I work with people from diverse backgrounds who have varied concerns that bring them to psychotherapy: including young adults, parents, professionals, and older people. I've been in practice 15+ years and have extensive experience teaching, writing, and lecturing to doctoral students and post-grad therapists/psychiatrists/psychologists. I'd be happy to see if I can be helpful to you.

I practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy, a empirically validated treatment that focuses on emotional experience, the role of childhood in the development of our personality, defensive strategies (how we avoid/tolerate painful, frustrating, scary, intolerable feelings and thoughts), recurring patterns and themes in our lives and our relationships.

I offer a free initial consultation so that I can learn about what you need/want in therapy, whether or not I think I might be able to help, and if the pairing feels like a good fit for us both. If I'm unable to help, I'm happy to provide a referral to someone who I think can. I have a wide network of referrals if I think someone else would be better suited.
