I typically blend insight-oriented therapy to deepen self-understanding, mindfulness practices to cultivate awareness and compassion, cognitive-behavioral interventions for symptom relief, and mind-body medicine for regulating the nervous system. With specialized training in yoga and meditation, I enjoy interweaving Western clinical psychology with Eastern yoga and mindfulness-based practices for a holistic, strengths based, mind-body approach to health and well being.
Complementing my doctorate in psychology, I have 300+ hours of yoga teacher training (ERYT-200, CRYT), and teacher trainings in Integrative Restoration®/Yoga Nidra, Mindful Schools (Foundations; Difficult Emotions), Yoga for Emotional Balance, and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. I offer these practices in workshops, psychotherapy groups, individual therapy and community settings.
APA published my award-winning children's book, Visiting Feelings, which elementary schools use for social-emotional learning. I have taught yoga and mindfulness to parents, teachers and students at public and private schools; to the local Board of Education; and to children and teachers in Haiti, Mississippi and Appalachia.
