Hello! I am Kevin Shon, owner of Summits Beyond Counseling, PLLC. Are you experiencing mental health challenge in life that is getting in the way? Are you less connected to joy, or a sense of "normal" on a day to day basis? Are you seeking to get unstuck, or work through a significant emotional challenge in life right now? I am known for supporting clients in their exploration of reconnection to themselves. I currently offer in-person and telehealth therapy sessions in Montana. My practice is located on the downtown Helena walking mall, next/above to the Parrot Confectionary.
I incorporate a client-centered approach where you'll be supported at the helm of your own healing experience. Depending on the nature of your goals, we can use a variety of therapy modalities to create progress. I focus on trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and behavior change to facilitate more fully connecting with yourself and the world around you.
I am trained in cognitive approaches to therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, mindfulness, and Somatic Experiencing to offer multiple different angles in approaching your therapy goals. As a psychodynamically oriented therapist, we will use exploration of personal history to help inform how past experiences influence current mindset and behavior.

Groups
Summits Beyond Mindful Men's Group (2024 Cohort)
This group will begin Fall, 2024 into Spring 2025. This group is for men seeking to find strength, resilience, and focus in a positive and supportive setting to deepen into our minds, bodies, and inner strength of healthy masculinity. Through multiple modalities, group participants will meet with other men committed to strengthening themselves and their community. Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing intro skills, connections with nature, and peer support will all be essential elements of this group's process over 2 3-month mini-semesters.
