First and foremost I believe that you are the expert on your life, not me. I will begin with openness about what you are bringing to counseling, respect for you and your family, curiosity about who you are and what you believe, as well as accountability to my power in the room. I emphasize the strengths I see in each individual and system and encourage you to draw on experiences from your past in order to help you better understand your current narratives, choices, feelings, and relationships.
One of my specialties is working with families and individuals experiencing chronic illness, chronic pain, cancer, and other medical issues. I work with children, adolescents, adults, individuals, families, couples and typically address concerns related to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, parenting struggles, caregiver burnout, PTSD, etc.
I view our lives a series of stories woven together to create our beliefs about who we are and how we interact in relationship with the people and world around us. Together we will work to identify how you would like to re-story problematic or traumatic stories to create future stories that fit your current vision for your life.
