I provide therapy to adults seeking help with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationships, parenting, grief, and trauma. I practice psychoanalytically, which means I place special attention on personal and family history, relationships, thoughts and feelings, and the treatment relationship. My aim is to help my patients reach their goals by providing a warm and safe environment where they can say everything. I help patients gain insight into their individual personalities and life circumstances and develop internal resources to help them weather difficult times and have the courage to try new ways of being.
As a social worker, I am mindful of societal structures that cause suffering. I will always regard you as a unique individual while considering the systems of power and privilege in which you live. I honor the complexity of getting better and feeling better and do not ascribe to the unrealistic expectations of the Wellness Industrial Complex.
Most people seek therapy when they are experiencing pain, but many choose to continue because of the richness it brings. Patients in therapy with me will notice an improved capacity to tolerate stress, form intimate relationships, and experience joy. Patients learn to develop a sense of curiosity instead of living under constant internal scrutiny.
