I find therapy can be a branch that reaches in, something strong you use to pull yourself from a harsh inner world to more solid ground. If you feel overwhelmed or raw, what you're experiencing isn't a problem with who you are. Plenty is hard in this world. Add in factors like your history, systemic barriers, learned habits, vulnerabilities, traumas, or feelings that overwhelm your capacities right now - it can be exhausting. At best. The hopeful news is that you can change your experience: gain understanding and strength, interrupt patterns, create your solid ground, and move in a direction that's in line with what matters to you.
As a therapist, I support you to draw strength from your own priorities. I offer tools to try, but also help you learn from yourself what you need. I use Compassion-Focused, mindfulness and music therapies, DBT & CPT. I often help with intense emotions, anxiety, self-destructive experiences, PTSD, body shame/eating disorders, and interpersonal communication.
Most folks see me for talk therapy only, collaborating to understand & build skills for what you're up against. I also provide music therapy, which can support verbal therapy. Music listening, music making, or your existing relationship with music can be part of how you build a life where you feel strong, where you feel safe, and where you feel like you.
