Life can be hard, we all struggle and need support. Genuine, caring, and easy to talk with, I offer support through a variety of challenges. I find joy and gifts, in work with folks overcoming "trauma", anxiety and/or depression, life transitions, and folks who are looking to further connect with themselves, life, and others. Trauma can be a loaded word, and means different things to different people. To me, “trauma” is the nervous systems' long-lasting (cognitive, physical, emotional, behavioral, social) response to overwhelming events/experiences. By this definition, most, if not all of us have experienced “trauma” in our lives.
So, it’s important to me that that I work with a trauma informed approach. This means that I offer clients choice in therapy, and when applicable, I support clients in developing the self-regulation they need for any processing work that we do. Depending on your challenges and wants, self-regulation skills could include grounding, activating mood, or both.
With an attentive presence, I offer a collaborative and integrative/multi-form (Somatic Experiencing, parts, inner child, CBT etc.) approach. This means that I provide you with choice in the forms of therapy that we use; the choices I offer are based on what research says to be effective for your challenge/s, my intuition, your personality, wants, and needs.
