Typically, clients come to see me when their previous experiences with traditional "talk" therapy haven't helped to resolve their symptoms. Trauma and stress have an emotional, psychological and physical impact, but we often need to start treatment at the most basic level: calming the nervous system. I see clients who are experiencing chronic pain, illness, addiction, PTSD and other common co-occurring disorders including Functional Neurological Disorders (FND) or Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES). All of these issues can be treated using empirically proven techniques that address the whole person - body, mind and spirit.
I utilize a variety of methods, including nutritional recommendations, trauma-focused mindful movement, expressive therapy, EMDR, neurofeedback, and the Safe and Sound Protocol, an auditory treatment developed by Dr. Stephen Porges and based on his Polyvagal Theory, to facilitate healthy nervous system responses.
At the core, I am a client-centered therapist, which means I believe that for you to heal and flourish, you need an environment that provides you with genuineness, acceptance, and empathy.
