My personal philosophy of counseling begins and ends with the wholehearted belief that each person has the capacity for personal growth and change. I entered this field because I feel that I have an authentic listening heart that desires to see people live as healthy and whole human beings. I have completed a masters in clinical mental health counseling through Adams State University and my professional background includes working as a corrections officer/counselor, volunteer coordinator for a hospital and as an Army veteran of Desert Storm.
I believe in a holistic approach to healing, one that encompasses the totality of a person – spiritual, emotional, and physical. I believe that counseling is a pathway to growth and healing. It is an opportunity for a client to explore their own thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment.
Overall, my philosophy as a counselor is to treat each person as a unique individual, worthy of unconditional acceptance. It is my desire to come alongside, challenge, and encourage my clients to find healing - emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
