Life sometimes doesn't go as planned and some challenges can benefit from an experienced guide. I am a specialist in treating trauma and in working with couples. I seek to help develop the tools needed by each unique client using evidence-based approaches balanced with patience, warmth, and enthusiasm. I try to meet each person where you are, discover the strengths within, and focus on helping you live a life based on what you value. I believe communication and boundaries are vital in all relationships and try to provide a supportive, encouraging, sometimes light-hearted, and non-judgmental space for exploration and healing for all.

I completed post-doctoral training working with relationships and combat and sexual trauma on a PTSD Clinical team in VA Hospitals. I am trained in all major evidence-based treatment approaches for treating trauma (e.g.,EMDR, CPT, PE) and research PTSD, relationships, and using music and mindfulness for symptoms for diverse symptoms (e.g., trauma, anxiety).

The decision to begin can be the hardest, and one most wished they did sooner. There's a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror. Now recruiting for an anxiety management group using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This evidence-based approach aims to change the relationship individuals have with unwanted or feared thoughts, feelings, images, memories, and physical/body sensations. Acceptance, mindfulness strategies, and much more are used to teach clients to decrease avoidance, reduce attachment to thoughts, focus on the present and develop psychological flexibility, or the ability to adapt to changing situations or "roll with the changes in life." Clients learn to clarify their goals and values and to commit to behavioral change strategies. Please contact Dr. Bean if interested!

The Seven Principles of Making a Marriage Work workshop is intended to develop new insights and evidence-based relationship skills that are proven to dramatically improve the friendship, closeness, and intimacy in relationships. It is designed to build conflict resolution skills in a healthy and effective way. This group combines informational segments, demonstrations, and breakout sections that allow you and your partner to discuss how these ideas can work best for you and is proven to improve intimacy and reduce unhealthy conflict. Communication and Conflict Resolution Seminar

This new couples seminar is a new and exciting way to learn key skills and approaches for developing a close and healthy relationship, or to reconnect/rebuild after conflict. This group combines primary concepts from a variety of evidence-based treatment approaches with the research of Dr. Bean and others. This 10-session seminar covers concepts from the Gottman Method, Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Anger Management, trauma therapy, and Intimate Partner Violence treatment approaches. Although it is encouraged to engage with the group, there is no requirement for participation in the group.
