I have worked in a variety settings serving a diverse population of clients. Among these are, young adults , chronic illness patients , Veterans and the LGBTQ community. Life is often filled with challenges , transitions and change. Psychotherapy can help weather these storms in a way that is healthy and promotes individual growth. In my work, I assist clients in their personal quests for greater self acceptance and understanding . At times, this work can focus on changes in thought patterns and behaviors as well improving coping skills. When trauma and loss are creating obstacles to living a fulfilling life, I provide a trauma -informed and compassionate approach to care.
I work in multiple modalities including psychodynamic as well as ACT and EMDR therapies. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a trauma focused therapy utilizing eye movement or other means ( auditory & tactile ) of bilateral cognitive stimulation which aids in the processing of traumatic experiences and increases emotional stability. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy utilizes mindfulness and emphasizes value-based living as a compass for better life choices and behavior change . Depending on the focus, these different methods can be blended. Your goals guide the process.
I appreciate that every journey is different and the commitment one makes to seek health and wellness is unique. I work to provide a comfortable and safe environment anchored in full acceptance and respect for each client.
