Psychotherapy can be a life-changing experience - positive, productive treatment begins with a safe, trusting empathic client-therapist alliance. My approach is solution-focused which means I like to concentrate on client strengths. Together, we collaborate toward understanding and resolving concerns and struggles in the present moment. I also focus on origin of concerns (root causes) as well as future health and happiness. To do this, I integrate numerous modalities, as treatment depends on client needs at the time. Clients I work best with appreciate a direct approach, with a twist of humor when appropriate.
My specializations include: relationship difficulties; narcissistic abuse from a spouse or family member, family of origin issues; codependency, recovery and 12 step support, depression, men's issues, teens, grief and loss, mood disorders, divorce, self-esteem issues, suicidal ideation (passive not active).
Trust is the most important factor in a therapeutic relationship. The therapeutic alliance is imperative for healing and growth. Clients present their own struggles and strengths which requires unique treatment. Therapy involves utilizing compassion and empathy in order to provide a safe space to explore feelings in a place of non-judgment.
