Today we are faced with so many distractions that ask us to turn away from ourselves and our relationships. It’s hard to resist. Yet this leaves us feeling more stuck, isolated, angry, distressed, and injured. And I believe this makes therapy, and spaces like it, more important than ever; spaces in which we slow down to engage honestly with our past, present, and future. I see myself as your partner in this process, and above all am committed to being respectful, curious, genuine, appropriately challenging, and fully present with my clients.
My approach emphasizes emotional awareness and expression. I use techniques from Gestalt therapy, encouraging clients to recognize and name often-overlooked aspects of their immediate physical and emotional experience. This enlivens the therapy dialogue and adds vital information as we seek to understand and re-tell the stories that dominate your life.
I recognize the psychological impacts of society and culture. My clients are affected in both helpful and harmful ways by their environments, and our therapy explores the emotional and relational consequences. My practice is inclusive and welcomes individuals of all backgrounds, ethnicities, races, religions, gender-identities, and sexual orientations.
