Welcome to my “Why you should pick me to be your counselor,” bio! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas working primarily with the LGBTQIA+ community. Together we can tackle issues related to depression, anxiety, gender and sexual discovery/acceptance, dismantling internalized queer-phobia, strategies to come out, family dynamics, etc. Additionally, I am Gottman Method Level 1 trained in Relationship Counseling. I work with my couples on strengthening communication, enhancing sexual/romantic intimacy, manage conflict as well as assist couples who are exploring ethical non-monogamy and polyamory.
My therapeutic style is eclectic, meaning I take from multiple therapeutic modalities and incorporate them for each specific client need. The modalities I am currently most comfortable and knowledgeable in are Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, CBT, Narrative Therapy and Existential Therapy.
My goal as your counselor is to provide you with the building blocks and skills needed to work through the day to day issues we face. In counseling, I like to say that you are in the drivers seat and I in the passenger seat with GPS, music at hand helping you navigate through the winding roads of life :)
