I specialize in working with first generation individuals to help one better understand their sense of self in relation to their culture. We explore the family dynamic, cultural values and expectations throughout the life cycle. I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with navigating the feelings of both "belonging" and "not belonging" to a culture, and its impact on one’s sense of self. Using a relational and narrative approach, I help clients understand and heal from the effects of generational trauma and family enmeshment, while also helping them forge a relationship with their own unique story.
I strive to create an identity-affirming and anti-oppressive space where clients feel seen, heard and understood. My goal is to empower clients to build resilience in the face of ongoing stressors related to assimilation, negative family dynamics, cultural and gender norms.
I create an environment that allows one to explore all parts of self without judgement. Building a strong client-therapist relationship is a key component in my practice.
