Sometimes we just need a band-aid to get us through a rough patch, and other times a deeper dive into long-standing patterns and struggles is the right focus - both are valid approaches! I work with individuals, couples, and children, and from time to time I also offer group workshops. I have specialized training in EMDR, Play Therapy, and have over a decade of clinical experience. I am currently an LPC Board-approved clinical supervisor as well as an adjunct professor in Loyola's Counseling program.
I am also a research Neuroscientist at Tulane University studying stress and trauma. I successfully use EMDR Therapy with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, self-worth issues, performance troubles, PTSD, and other types of trauma. Even something your friends and family think is a minor event, can be a traumatic moment for you.
We are adaptive beings, but sometimes the ways we adapt to experiences in our lives prove unhelpful and limiting in the long run - We do the best we can with what we have! Introductory Child-Parent Relationship Workshop
A 3-hour introductory Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT) workshop for parents of children from 3 years old to 8 years old. The workshop is attended by parents only, and helps to strengthen the relationship between a parent and child using therapeutic play sessions. Parents learn how to: Respond empathically, Build self-esteem, Help develop self-control, & Set therapeutic limits. Play is important to children because it is the natural way they communicate: toys are like words, and play is their language. By changing how children feel about themselves, parents see a significant difference in the child’s behavior.
