For many people, therapy offers an inviting space to share thoughts and feelings you might not feel safe to share in other relationships. Others may view therapy as a sign of failure in not being able to solve life problems on one's own. I have worked with individuals at both ends of this spectrum. I often treat individuals who find it hard to know what they want in life and easily lose themselves with others, those who struggle to find love, and who suffer from feelings of worthlessness and emptiness. I am particularly adept in working with trauma, loss, relationship conflicts, destructive habits and family issues.
My approach is psychodynamic, meaning I will work with you to carefully unpack the unconscious roots of your conflicts and to explore the ways in which past traumas and internal conflicts show up in the present. Our work can provide an opportunity to elucidate destructive patterns and engage more authentically in relationships.
In my practice, unwanted thoughts and feelings are viewed as a meaningful part of the experience, and are instructed to be spoken aloud in order to change one's difficult and complex relationship to them.
