In relationships, experiencing mistreatment, neglect, invalidation, rejection, or abandonment can lead to a profound sense of disconnection from ourselves and others. This detachment often leads us to mistakenly identify with this sense of disconnection, causing immense pain and making it challenging to be present with our own emotions. Such experiences can trigger a state of imbalance, characterized by anxiety, or a 'freeze' response accompanied by symptoms similar to depression. These are the effects of trauma—an emotional response to distressing events that leave us feeling powerless.
My role is to guide clients in recognizing unconscious life patterns—adaptive responses to trauma that undermine their self-perception and hinder their ability to form healthy relationships. Our collaborative work aims to rebalance the nervous system, enhancing the capacity to be fully present. This process fosters a sense of wholeness, joy, and connection.
Traumatic experiences often lead us to live defensively, overshadowed by grief and anxiety, as we desperately seek ways to escape or mitigate the pain. Therapy offers a path to healing through relational means, enabling individuals to restore their sense of their 'true,' authentic selves and cultivates feelings of connectedness.
