As a clinical psychologist the most important aspect of my work is to create an environment where clients feel safe to actively engage in the psychotherapy process. My approach is referred to as "integrationist;" incorporating aspects of psychodynamic, cognitive, and mindfulness therapy. I treat difficulties associated with mood, anxiety, trauma, addiction and ADHD, as well as more basic problems in living (i.e. relationship, employment). I welcome clients from all backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, sexual preference and genders.
Through focused exploration treatment aims to enhance awareness and reduce unnecessary suffering. This involves working collaboratively and flexibly with individuals to better understand patterns that create obstacles to joyful living. Through practice and understanding, individuals move towards emotional flexibility, rich and supportive relationships, and confidence in attaining goals.
I have additional training and teaching experience with Addiction Disorders and Group Psychotherapy. Certified as a Group Therapist and Past President of the NYSPA, Group Psychology Division, as well as a former faculty member within addictions at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Dept of Psychiatry.
