Clients I work with struggle with a variety of difficulties, including depressed mood, low self-esteem, self-criticism, existential anxiety, social anxiety and desire for things to be “perfect” or “just right”. They find themselves repeating unwanted patterns, stressed out and unsure how to change. I often find that clients already have the capacity for change and growth but just need some support in unlocking the skills, finding their self-worth, learning new perspectives, and gleaning insight into their patterns. My practice is grounded in psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavioral theory. I utilize evidence based practices such as prolonged exposure and interoceptive exposure to address symptoms related to trauma and panic. I also routinely incorporate interventions from Schema therapy and utilize mental imagery to facilitate symptom relief.
My education and training have taught me that change is not only possible, but likely, when you combine an appropriate treatment approach with a strong relationship between therapist and client.
