It can be very challenging to see things clearly in life. I help individuals re-adjust their way of looking at themselves, their relationships, and the world. Through psycho-dynamic exploration, I come alongside a patient in the discovery of what is possible, as it is my belief that the most crucial part of therapy is the relationship that builds between patient and therapist. It is often easier to shine a light into uncertain areas of one's heart and mind when someone else is holding the light.
I meet with people experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, and those who struggle with relational intimacy, abandonment, and attachment challenges. I sit with patients in grief through a death, divorce, break-ups, family disconnection, crisis of faith, and other life transitions. I also meet with parents who are raising children/adults with disabilities.
I sit with individuals, couples, and families at Janus Counseling Center, a comfortable and beautiful therapeutic space in Santa Barbara, along with a supportive team of bright and caring clinicians.

Loss & Loneliness In Person Group
Beginning Saturday October 8 running for 8 consecutive Saturday mornings from 10-11:45, Janus Counseling Center, led by Susan Hicks, MA, LMFT and Jennifer Vogel, MA, LMFT, is hosting an in-person processing group. When grief, loss, or loneliness strike, gathering together in the company of others going through similar feelings, brings about a healing that cannot happen in individual therapy. Please consider joining if you are experiencing complicated feelings of loneliness or loss. To reserve your spot, contact Jennifer at 805-617-3316. Group size is limited. $50 per session. If 4 or 8 weeks paid up front, a 10% discount applies.
