If you are reading this, you may be going through a particularly rough patch. Or, you could be ready to face something that's been difficult for too long. How would it be to have a companion on the road--someone who knows short cuts, has walked similar terrain, and will stick with you when you lose your way and your temper? An individual therapist can serve as a guide to your own best self. I work primarily with adolescents and adults who have depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma, difficulty with emotional regulation, LGBTQ concerns, or (most often) some combination.
Growth and healing begin with a strong, empathic connection between therapist and client, so that is where our work will start. Thereafter, I serve as a guide, supporting clients to reclaim their values, strengths, and self worth, as they create (or return to), a vibrant, meaningful life path.
I came to therapy by way of being a neurobiologist (PhD). This background helps me understand how both emotional distress and therapy affect the brain, and it allows me to assess the scientific evidence supporting the use of specific therapeutic techniques.
