I work best with adults who are willing to work with me to make sense out of the pain and joys in their life.We work to understand how they get stuck or move forward, finding alternatives, and explore together what supports or hinders new solutions. Then we can work together to make peace with what can't be changed. In addition to talking together, I suggest a variety of practices for gaining perspective and managing anxiety and depression.
I have been doing individual, couples, and group therapy since 1964. I was formerly on the UCLA Psychology Department faculty and teach therapists around the world. I was a member of the Professional Conduct Committee of the L.A.County Psychological Association. I have a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology.
I co-founded the Pacific Gestalt Institute post-graduate psychotherapy training institute. My book Awareness, Dialogue and Process has been published in English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Korean. I am on the board of several professional journals (British Gestalt Journal. Gestalt Review) and have many psychotherapy theory and practice publications.
