Psychoanalytic psychotherapy offers an in depth approach to explore and understand one’s feelings, which can bring emotional relief and lead to change that have lasting effects. Through this process of understanding one’s feelings, exploring the root of conflicts and the meaning of behavior, different possibilities open up to the way a person can think and feel . At different moments in life, one experiences pain, sadness, anger and becomes worried. These feelings manifest themselves in a variety of ways and affect one’s sense of well being and relationships.
When these interferences persist and there is a continuing sense of discomfort, it may be an indication that these feelings are not going away without further attention and emotional work. To initiate the process, a consultation is recommended. A consultation consists of a series of sessions to provide the initial impressions and to make a recommendation.
The frequency of the sessions are important. They facilitate the work to increase a sense of trust in the therapeutic relationship. With these considerations, more awareness can be brought to the emotional concerns, which allows them to be worked through in a safe environment.
