I believe that safety, creativity and collaborative give-and-take are the crucial ingredients for a successful therapy experience. This enables the patient to look at past and present difficulties within the context of a new and potentially transformative relationship. I work to create an environment where patients can get to know and tolerate knowing many parts of themselves. I approach this task with sensitivity, curiosity, humor and warmth.
I am a psychoanalytically trained therapist who is hands-on and involved in the treatment relationship and process. My approach is active, compassionate and practical. I strive to do what works for each individual patient, so I pay attention to the unique wishes and desires that every patient brings to the treatment room.
Most of my patients come to therapy struggling with work anxiety, relationship conflicts, periods of depression, problems with self esteem and uncertainty about life goals and choices. I have a particular interest in treating professionals in the artistic and creative industries. I enjoy helping individuals identify and overcome professional impediments and creative blocks. I also work well with individuals and family members in the recovery stages of addiction.
