Joseph Campbell once said, "The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are." As a therapist, I believe there can be no greater goal than to help you become your authentic self. By acknowledging you as the expert in your own life, and not imposing my own ideas of who you "should" be, my role is to help you work through any old survival strategies, reactive patterns, and physical/emotional traumas that prevent you from being the person you were meant to be, and living the life you were meant to live.
To me, all symptoms - such as depression, anxiety, addiction, relational trouble, physical ailments - should be treated as a call to go inward. Symptoms are simply our best solution to coping with life's difficult experiences. Not a sign something is wrong with us, but rather an indication something is amiss inside that wants our attention.
By exploring the various parts of you - the depressed part, the exhausted or sick part, the drinker, the angry or anxious part, or others - we will gently unravel the patterns that keep you stuck and cause suffering to you and those around you. You will experience firsthand that to know yourself is a beautiful thing.
