It is human to experience emotional extremes but when you are feeling emotional often, it can impact your work, your parenting and your relationships. In many cases, extreme emotional responses interfere with important dreams for ourselves and our families. Beginning with your very first session, we will begin to formulate a picture of what has been going on in your life, using a fresh framework that has been shown in research to be helpful in alleviating many mental health symptoms. We will also identify simple skills/strategies and achievable actions that you can implement right away to build awareness, hope, and motivation.
I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an emotion-based and skills-driven approach that helps us become more resilient with our emotions, enabling us to more consistently behave in ways that match our beliefs and values. DBT has been shown in research to help people feel more capable of handling adversity, change, and uncertainty.
The idea of being in therapy can be daunting which is why I try to help you to eventually become your own therapist! I personally do my own scheduling, billing, and intakes. I am very responsive by private email/phone. I am also a social worker, so I can assist you with finding resources for loved ones, and communicating with other healthcare providers.
