I truly believe we do the best we can, in the moment we're in, with the skills we have. Sometimes, we just find ourselves in situations that overwhelm us, or outmatch our coping, communication, or problem solving skills. Therapy can offer new tools and insights so that we can get "unstuck" and move forward. I will help you explore and build upon your current strengths, supports, and skills as well as help you navigate the changes you'd like to make for yourself and for your relationships. I value listening, exploring strengths, and helping examine and shift old habits that no longer serve you.
I work with individual adults, kids/teens, couples, and families with a variety of goals, often focusing on increasing the ability to manage stress, improve communication, learn new skills and responses, and process traumatic or difficult past life experiences. I have additional training in The Gottman Method, EFT, EMDR, and others.
Although insurance companies don't cover "marital/couples therapy," they may cover "family therapy" as part of your overall treatment if it's deemed medically necessary to treat a diagnosed mental health disorder AND this is the focus of services. I'd be happy to discuss your goals for treatment and the likelihood of insurance coverage with you.
