What isn't talked about is repeated...In so many ways. We get stuck,whether this be specific behaviors, relationships, symptoms of anxiety or depression or substance abuse. Even, when we arrive at the awareness that we want to feel or be different. Our family experience and our experiences in our increasingly complex world, shape, without our permission, how we think and feel. Understanding the meaning we made of our experiences and the thinking and feeling habits that developed, can begin to bring relief and reduce or eliminate the symptoms that motivated us to seek help.
My approach to therapy is client centered and incorporates a variety of treatment strategies including elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Family Systems work, Imago Therapy, and other theories of how people change. The foundation of my work is a 20 year personal Mindfulness practice, which informs my work.
My training and experience as a therapist rests on my other work life experiences as a professional fireman and a retired US Army Reserve Officer, particularly for those whose injuries may come from related experiences. I am known for my work with anxiety, as I have successfully tackled my own.
