I am a psychiatrist who works primarily through insight-oriented psychotherapy. I treat patients who are missing a sense of balance, meaning, connection, or purpose in their lives, who feel stuck with regard to career, romance, or family, who notice concerning, repetitive, or self-destructive patterns in relationships, mental attitudes, or behavior, and who struggle with the lingering effects of abuse, neglect, or other challenging life experiences. My expertise in psychotherapy and the medical practice of psychiatry enables me to offer thoughtful, comprehensive and individualized treatment, which may or may not include medication.
My goal is to help you develop your understanding of the unconscious forces that shape your experience of your self and your world by examining your thoughts, feelings, fantasies, memories, and associations. I recognize that medications are often unable to fully address the concerns that lead us to seek treatment, and that psychotherapy may be essential.
There can be a great deal of uncertainty and anxiety around the decision to start addressing long-standing behavioral patterns, unresolved conflicts, and painful feelings and memories; I hope to provide a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space for you to explore your inner world and gradually free yourself from the control of these powerful mental forces.
