I am a caring, empathetic psychologist who has considerable skills helping people through crisis. I use exploration of past experience combined with practical, concrete techniques for how to with current issues. My strengths are my intuitive understanding of people and my ability to translate this understanding into a plan of action. I tailor each treatment to suit individual differences. I believe in being interactive and giving feedback and direction, but also believe in each individual's capacity to set their own goals and measures of success. I appreciate clients who come with a curiosity to understand themselves better.
I work with people unhappy in relationships or work, who are in need of direction for school, career, or life transitions, or have self-sabotaging behaviors. I provide support and guidance for those feeling derailed in their college or career plans due to COVID-19, and help refocus clients towards meaningful goals.
Therapy can be hard work and requires compassion and encouragement. I believe in using humor to help people. I find a shared laugh helps people gain perspective to look at themselves in a non-threatening way. Senior women's support group; Women's Trauma Group
My senior group is for women who may be dealing with issues of isolation and loneliness, aging and health concerns, financial concerns, family discord, and finding meaning in retirement and after raising a family. My trauma group is for women who have experienced childhood abuse, domestic violence, or find themselves in serial abusive relationships. It deals with problems with self-image, assertiveness, boundaries, trust, and identifying and managing toxic relationships.
