Suitable for clients who are experiencing relationship problems, divorce, abandonment, isolation, bereavement, communication difficulties, occupational problems, chronic anxiety and/or reactive depression. The group provides cathartic relief through expression as well as learning of new and more adaptive ways of interacting with people around us. In this way the group provides both healing and self insight as group members risk new behaviors in the safety of the group and are able to measure responses of other group members; positively adjusting their previously maladaptive responses, coping and defense mechanisms. This group is suitable for clients previously diagnosed with BPD, who have achieved a safe measure of stabilization,are no longer self destructive and wish to be in a group with likeminded clients with the aim to strengthen sense of self,learn increasingly adaptive coping mechanisms, diminish impulsivity, enhance mindfulness and manage relationships more effectively.Careful screening is a prerequisite. Unsuitable clients are advised to pursue individual therapy or referred for appropriate support.Years of experience working with this client population have given me valuable insight and members of this group have benefited significantly from skillfully facilitated group interaction.
