Psychotherapy is a lot like gardening. Even a small plot will add beauty and harmony to life, for the process of gardening is just as rewarding as the size of the crop.
Generally, deeper tilling leads to better results: roots reach deeper into sources of nurturance, and are better protected from the stresses of heat, cold and drought.
In a crisis, chemical treatments may be helpful, but be cautious: they may reduce the garden's natural resilience and carry the risk of dependence; they should be used judiciously and withdrawn as soon as possible.
A natural approach promotes ecological balance and greater inherent resistance to pests and other threats. Don't discard weeds and garden debris, for example. Composting them instead into rich fertilizer and mulch preserves nutrients and energy, yielding hardier plants and reducing the need for artificial fertilizers and other external supports.
