Sometimes it seems that nothing works. You may feel angry, sad, or out of control and need help to navigate through rough times. I have been there! I was inspired to be a counselor by my own struggles with family codependency. There is hope! Through a combination of therapeutic techniques, cognitive behavioral, solution focused, reality, family systems, feminist, and humanistic therapies, I will help you identify what is holding you back. The goal is to provide you with the insights and tools you need to move past old, limiting beliefs and behaviors. I will provide dedicated, confidential listening to create a bright future.

Welcome! Are you are looking for a safe space, with someone who is down to earth, direct and compassionate? Are ready to feel like you have more direction, peace and increased knowledge of who you are? If so, you are in the right spot. My clinical practice is grounded in the belief that we are all the experts of our own lives and we have the inner wisdom needed to create the life we want. However, many of us experience trauma, and other obstacles that lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, chronic self-doubt and a loss of purpose.

I believe that all people have within themselves an innate instinct towards growth. People are designed to survive and connect with others, and each relationship has the capacity to be a healing relationship. Trauma can shape how we view ourselves and the world; healing begins when clients explore their inner strength and find fierce self-compassion within themselves. I strive to provide a warm and empathetic space for clients to learn new tools and discover an authentic way to live their lives with joy and peace. I also believes in the power of humor and self-love as a radical act.

As a mom of three, I understand the stressors life can put on you. Introspectively, I can say my experience as a young mom shaped my experience as a mature mom. The art of balancing work, family, finances, career change, health concerns, romantic relationships can be very taxing. Sometimes the things we encounter in life can be hard to go through. My goal is to listen and walk with you on your journey. Whether you are going through grief, loss of a job, divorce or just feel like others don't understand, I am here to listen and offer a different perspective.

Life is built through relationships. As a therapist, I believe in providing a trusting, caring, and non-judgmental environment to build that relationship. Without those qualities you won't feel that you are building a safe relationship to express yourself. Taking the first step in asking for help is the most difficult. Thank you for trusting me as you begin that journey. I have 30 years of experience in building therapeutic relationships.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families who are struggling with conflicts in their lives, whether they are emotional, psychological, relational or any combination of these. I have also worked with persons with substance abuse issues, abuse/trauma issues, and mental health issues. All of them are looking for healing and restoration to a sense of identity and meaning, which can lead to a greater sense of security and purpose in life. Most seem to want to know themselves and other persons better and feel safe.

I have a heart for people who are hurting because I have been there. I have been in the darkest, most awful, lonely places this life has to offer, but I somehow made it out. My hope is to help you find a way out too. I won’t pretend to know about everything you have experienced, but I will absolutely provide you with a non-judgmental space to share those experiences. I want to understand you and to let you know that sometimes the broken places in each of us are the very parts that can become the most beautiful. I hope you will let me climb down into that pit with you, into all the not so great places, so we can find a way out.

Sometimes, our situations may leave us feeling stuck, lost, and not in control of our lives. Other times, we may be at a standstill in our relationships, feeling unheard and uncertain of how to move forward. These moments deceive us into believing we are incapable and incomplete. I am passionate about exploring the harmful beliefs we have about ourselves and our circumstances. I embrace the inevitability of conflict in relationships and believe there is always a means to resolution. My desire is that you leave therapy with a perspective that is empowering and uplifting.

Counseling is not about getting advice. It's about processing what you have going on and figuring out how to take next steps in the places of life where you feel stuck, discouraged, sad, or lost. Counseling is about having someone there with you to help you sort things out, support you, and even sometimes challenge you to move forward with your goals. I use brain-based research and easy-to-use tools to work with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, and age-related issues.

We all experience hard things. Bad things happen and we create ways to cope with that, some good and some not so good. Each person can grow and repair from simple issues to complex traumas and hurts. I utilize trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches like Brainspotting, Somatic Processing and Trust-Based Relational Intervention, to tackle the root cause of the problem, not just the symptom. I utilize a strengths-based approach with all clients and families and believe you should be able to have fun along the way to healing.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Fort Worth?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
