I enjoy working with clients who are dealing with life changes and transitions. I like to show people different ways of thinking about their issues. I have a number of ways to help people to get in touch with their feelings and to change the way they respond to situations and handle conflict in relationships. I help them to find ways to compromise, use the energy that comes from strong feelings, and to slow down their reactivity before they do harm to others. I deal with grief, anger, pain, loss, depression, and anxiety. I provide a safe place for clients.
I enjoy my work more than I ever have before in my career. I am able to sit with tension, anxiety, conflict, depression, and grief more calmly because of my age and experience. I do not plan to retire. I like to join with my clients in their life experiences.
I have grown to be calm, pleasant, optimistic, and hopeful about emotional difficulties. Our most important job is to help our clients learn how to self-soothe. I have strategies, examples, and handouts to help people practice communication skills that help them to have better relationships with others.
