You are the expert of YOU and the answers you seek are within you. I believe my role is to guide you and to help clear away the obstacles to your Truth. Often we find ourselves trapped in maladaptive thinking and behaviors that we know are unhealthy, but we can't seem to find a way to change those behaviors or create new, healthy ones. In my 22 years of experience as a Mental Health and Substance Use Therapist I have developed a therapeutic orientation that blends the Eastern Philosophies (Tao, Buddhism) with Western Psychotherapies and I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs to help you explore, heal, and flourish.
I prefer to work with clients in the "here and now", but if you want to explore the past to gain insight into your current issues, we can do that. I generally utilize Mindfulness Practice/Meditation & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and if you wish to explore your spirituality, I would welcome the opportunity to join your spiritual journey.
No matter what prompts you to seek counseling, let's work collaboratively to explore what is going on within you and in your life. I believe everyone is capable of living a relatively happy, fulfilling life. I expect the therapeutic relationship to be collaborative, because, after all, you are the expert of you! Bonus!
