I have years of experience counseling both individuals and couples. My clients gain insight, heal from trauma, find ways to communicate and remain in long-term committed relationships, and are better able to realize their life goals. Areas of specialization include issues relating to anxiety and depression. My work with grief includes healing from the loss of loved ones, divorce, job change, and changes brought by illness. I enjoy helping people envision a fulfilling retirement and to embrace change. I teach breathing and meditation as ways of lifting depression, managing anxiety, and finding peace.
My Ph.D. is in Spirituality from UC Berkeley's Graduate Theological Union. As a college chaplain and professor of religious studies for decades, I work with people of all or no religious backgrounds to strengthen the connection to Self, others, and nature--and to find meaning in life.
My doctoral dissertation was on "The Relation between the Interior Life and Art." I enjoy working with writers, filmmakers, dancers, poets, musicians, and designers. Amidst chaos and contradictions, we find ways to "descend to our gut" and to create. I attended Hollywood Professional School when I was four.

Mindfulness is a gentle awareness of the present moment without judgement. We practice mindfulness meditation in order to increase our capacity for joy and calm throughout a busy day.
