I am the Agency Psychologist for the Center for Systematic Therapy and Research Services (CSTARS). I work full-time after a career in research (University of Washington 1987-2004) and faculty appointment (John's Hopkins, Department of Mental Health [2004-2007]). I currently focus on directing two clinical programs with Clinical Director Melissa Byrd: 1) Relapse Prevention for advanced recovery in addiction and codependency (Group and Individual), 2) Sexual Victimization recovery from childhood and young adult PTSD (Group and Individual). I conduct neurodevelopmental assessments for Dr. Stumme-Parks' work with CSTARS' ADHD clients.
After primary care for substance use addictions or beginning therapy for the process addiction of codependency, C-STARS uses individual counseling and a Psychologist co-facilitated Relapse Prevention Group to restore effective relationships and build flexible yet healthy boundaries for the different worlds of work, social networks, and intimate partners.
My psychotherapy rests on the individual nature of each person. CBT (cognitive behavioral) is built on what an AVERAGE person will achieve if they use the SAME strategies that the AVERAGE RESEARCH SUBJECT used when building a program. There is room for CBT in learning a life skill. However, my approach is built around each individual (existential-humanistic)

Psychologist & LMHC Co-facilitated. There are two types of members in this group as a part of a Relapse Prevention Program. First, some are recovering from substance use addiction. Second, some don't have a history of substance use addiction-- but they experience the process addiction of Codependency. Both groups are looking for building healthy relationships and effective interpersonal skills with healthy boundaries-- which are often different for work, social friendships, and intimate partners.

Women's Sexual PTSD Recovery Program Group (Telehe

This group is for women who have experienced sexual victimization prior to the age of 23 [before young adult identity formation]. All members need to be in at least 2 times monthly individual therapy with Dr. Moore. This is a trauma-focused treatment process, using non-confronting existential-humanistic psychology. This is a trauma-focused program-- using Prolonged Exposure Narrative Therapy. Many women have a previous history of symptom-focused or EMDR therapy. During group--members are supportive without giving advice or interpreting others' personal history. Occasionally members of the group stay later and engage in peer dialogue.
