Lighthouse Counseling & Sand Play Training Center, LLC was conceived in 2000 in a tiny office in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey by Gretchen Morgan and Mary Pat McGeehin. Their search for effective treatment led them to include the use of Sand Play Therapy, EMDR, yoga and therapeutic group work with their clients. This was in response to the expanding body of research which illustrated that the mind-body connection was integral to the healing of mental health issues. In 2004, they expanded their practice to include like-minded affiliate clinicians and moved to a larger facility in Eatontown, New Jersey.

Mary Pat and Gretchen designed the Lighthouse Sand Play Training program and are approved providers for Continuing Education for the NJ Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative and the National Board of Certified Counselors. To date, they have trained over 3000 clinicians both nationally and internationally.

Mary Pat, Gretchen and their 7 additional affiliate clinicians on site are EMDR trained and have Certificates in Sand Play Therapy. All clinicians are experienced in telehealth and most are Certified State Clinical Supervisors for either Social Work or Counseling licensees.

Is your daughter having trouble with "mean girls" or "girl drama" at school? Does she have difficulty making or keeping friends? Our Girls' groups help girls cope with these as well as other difficulties girls struggle with including body image/dieting, peer pressure, dating, drugs and alcohol. These dynamic groups help empower girls through use of Sand Play Therapy, yoga and hands on socialization. Goals of increased self esteem, love and acceptance of self, and respect of self and body are themes throughout the group. Social Skills Groups

Our interactive Social Skills groups use Sand Play Therapy, therapeutic games and yoga to improve socialization skills, increase comfort in social situations, enhance self esteem, promote mutual respect and empathy for others, improve peer relations, build friendships, learn relaxation techniques and body awareness. Children are grouped together by various factors, including chronological age, maturity level, gender and personality. Coping with Addiction in Your Family

Life is more complex for a child growing up with addiction in their family. This unique group allows girls to connect with other girls who know what it is like to have a family member with a drug and/or alcohol addiction. Participants will learn coping and relaxation skills, as well as drug and alcohol education and prevention. Sand Play Therapy, yoga and hands on socialization are used to address these goals, while also seeking to raise the impacted self esteem of girls impacted by addiction.
