People usually come to me wanting and needing change relatively quickly for their issues related to drugs and alcohol, eating, or as concerned family members. People often feel some shame, or a lot of it, around their problems. I have had success in orienting people to these problems and motivating them to find their way to hope, happiness, and a "recovered" life. Raising a person's true self-confidence is usually a part of the treatment. No two people are exactly alike so I adapt to the counseling needs of my clients. These are treatable issues, so seek help! See below on my cost-effective group on food and body image issues.
Additionally, I counsel people through natural life transitions, losses, and the anxieties of living. I have worked with individuals and families for 25 + years, and I have helped people with a wide variety of troubling feelings and experiences.
In the last three years I received special training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT.) This therapy is helpful to people who want to understand their emotions, and how to keep them in a comfortable balance within themselves and in their dealings with others. (Helpful for compulsive eaters and drinkers.)
