The Katy DBT Center follows in the tradition of the Houston DBT Center in striving for excellence of care and precision in treatment of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). We require all of our therapists to be experienced and well trained in the implementation of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based, modern behavioral therapy originally developed to treat individuals with the then "difficult" symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Due the the advent of DBT, BPD is now a good prognosis diagnosis and individuals receiving DBT treatment may expect to eventually no longer meet criteria for BPD.
I have been practicing DBT since 2009 and the Katy DBT Center is among the centers that offer an adherent evidence based program. Recently I have added games, such as Dungeons & Dragons to our program as an intervention. This has been helpful in both teen and adult programs.
Change is hard. Out of control emotions lead to out of control behaviors and at some point coping that used to work just spirals out of control. RO D&D (Radically Open Dungeons & Dragons)

The research on Dungeons & Dragons as a behavioral intervention is still in its infancy but it is believed that D&D does a good job at addressing the social isolation that comes with disorders of over-control. It does this by providing structure, social engagement, and the experimentation of new roles and behaviors in a safe environment. Interestingly, fun is also an important, evidence based intervention that is practiced when treating disorders of over control such as OCPD or anorexia nervosa. Our program includes: an individual therapy session, a skills class, and a D&D campaign.
