I understand that 'alcohol and other drugs'...(cocaine, marijuana, opiates/painkillers, etc.) as well as relationships, money, food, work, technology, sex, etc. are merely dysfunctional band-aids to avoid the pain of inner woundedness. My therapeutic approach offers a deeper awareness of symptomatic addictions by providing the client with the 'space' and permission to explore the self-damage from these harmful 'toxins' and then learn the practice of thought and feeling detoxification. I can support my clients with 20+ years of relapse prevention therapy and techniques to replace the obsessive thinking with positive and self-affirming behaviors.
"An allergy in the body coupled with an obsession in the mind", I am a licensed addictions specialist, state and internationally certified with 20+ years experience within several hospital systems and 10 years as the owner of a private practice. I provide individual, couples, and groups with addiction-focused treatment.
I am approachable with a concersational style of interaction that place people at ease. I challenge traditional notions of psychotherapy by integrating clinical expertise with existential and holistic perspective. I am passionate about Group Therapy and offer Family Education/Support Groups, Resource Referrals, Substance Abuse Evaluations, and Crisis Intervention.
