It takes courage to admit I need help. Many of us try to get through life's difficulties alone, which sometimes seems to make matters worse. I seek to create a collaborative environment, where the client(s) is the expert on their own life. We work together to create a safe, healthy, space where the presenting issues can be explored and worked through. Whether it is past, unresolved, trauma poking its head into daily living, a recent life change that is overwhelming, or a couple needing to figure out how to feel close and intimate again we will work together to find the best path forward.

Therapy starts with a simple conversation and me seeking to learn your unique perspective, needs, and goals. You may or may not know exactly what your are looking for. You might feel anything from complete comfort to terror in taking this step. I am great at helping people feel comfortable & asking the right questions to develop shared understanding. This will continue throughout treatment, so that we are always increasing awareness and achievement. This does not happen instantly, but in stages. I will support you to ensure you move at a pace best suited to your needs and comfort level.

We live in a world where people are imperfect and hurting. Somewhere along the way we have been hurt by people or by the choices the people in our lives have made. Your story is your own and no one else's. Life is hard. Asking for help is brave. Taking the first step in seeking help is the way to a new piece of your story.

Beginning a therapeutic journey is a process both vulnerable and brave. It is not an easy process, but one of hard-work and growth. I believe as we create our stories, therapy can work as an essential means for self-exploration and development. My passion lies in working with individuals who seek to facilitate healthy relationships in their lives or are working to maneuver or heal from relationships which have caused pain and confusion. In addition, I specialize in working with co-occurring disorders of substance use and mental health diagnoses, most often working with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.

Anxiety impacts every aspect of our lives. We walk around with a pit in our stomachs and our heads buzzing from all of the anxious thoughts swirling around. It leaves us on edge, exhausted, angry, confused, and often paralyzed and isolated. It impacts our relationships with our partners, kids, colleagues, and friends. I have helped countless people create a new way of being that isn't dictated by anxiety. There is a beautiful life waiting for you that isn't consumed by anxiety and stress. I know because I have been there. I am happy to say I no longer wake up with a pit in my stomach and so can you.

Much of humanity struggles with a level of suffering that takes place as a result of over-identifying with the mind. Often this can make us feel that we are powerless to our hard-wired patterns, chronic and pervasive emotional states, addictions, and self-sabotaging behaviors. True peace and change are available to you when you begin to understand how the brain and body work, and how they become stuck in states that do not serve you. My philosophy is that we must understand how our brains and bodies work in order to move them in the right direction.

Why counseling? Maybe you're scared, anxious, and demoralized because you've been victimized. Maybe you're at a point in life where what you're doing, thinking and feeling is not working. Maybe you're depressed about a troubled relationship or the loss of a loved one. Maybe you're frustrated because your children just don't seem to get it. Maybe you're angry, and hurt because others are taking advantage of you. Maybe you're level of confidence has decreased. Maybe you're feeling hopeless because you think there's nothing you can do to make the situation any better.

I understand through personal loss and struggles, the realness of living in a broken world. However, I have also experienced the internal transformation of hope, courage, and wholeness. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, who is trained in EMDR, Neurofeedback, and Play/Art/Music Therapy. I believe in meeting others where they are and walking beside them, especially when challenges, struggles, or lack of hope hinder our ability to live life to the fullest. I make every effort to create a genuine, safe, non-judgmental, relationship with others. Regardless of their spiritual or religious beliefs.

Hello! My name is Megan Blair. I am trained in and have practiced mental health interventions with the full spectrum of age ranges. I utilize multiple therapeutic techniques, but I tend to use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy most often. My primary focus of clinical training is in pediatric neuropsychological and neurodevelopmental evaluations. Evaluations show us where a person has skills we could lean into and where we can better support that person.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
