I am an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider from Evergreen and a board-certified practitioner who has worked across the states in various communities. I have worked with all aspects of care, from mental health to chronic care. I attribute a lot of my "patient-centered care" to the diverse patient population set I have served. This diversity, as I state, "has made way for understanding how similar we are as individuals and communities, as well as understanding the intricate differences we each have." Patients should be heard, educated on all aspect of their concerns, and be able to make a well-informed decision on their care.

I have provided individual, couples, and family therapy for over twenty years. I specialize in working with individuals dealing with trauma and behavior issues including school difficulties, delinquent behaviors, emotional problems and relationship issues including problems within the family. I work with parents to learn the skills necessary to successfully intervene with their adolescent. I believe that a short-term, intensive intervention can be very successful.

Life presents us with many situations and many requirements that are very stressful. Trying to cope and manage these events can cause both anxiety and depression if the challenge seems overwhelming or unattainable . Many of these stressors may be very specific situations such as performance as an athlete or musician or public speaker. Some are more unpredictable such as coping with a loss or life transition. So often we expect ourselves to "push through" or "deal with it" and we don't accept and honor the difficulty of these stressors. Many times, despite our best efforts it is difficult to deal with these situations on our own.

When you’re neck-deep in the struggle of parenting a child with special needs, taking the step to start your own therapy probably feels impossible. It might feel like just one more thing demanding your attention, one more appointment to keep straight, one more person telling you everything you’re doing wrong. My goal is to help you to feel more grounded and regulated so that all of the other things demanding your attention feel more manageable. I hope to support your parenting journey with a unique skillset that can address both your mental health needs, and bolster your skills around behavior management.

Feeling weighed down by the burdens of life yet struggling to find anyone who understands? Is stress, anxiety, or depression starting to impact relationships, work, or your sex life? Do you feel disconnected, trapped in cycles you can’t change, or haunted by the past? Are you unsure about who you are, who you want to be, or how to love all the parts of yourself? Since men are often expected to be strong, stoic, & steadfast, we often hide behind a mask, unsure about the internal swirl of emotions, doubts, & fears. You're not alone & what you face isn’t insurmountable. The journey of exploration, healing, & transformation begins here.

Therapy can help us better understand ourselves, deepen our connection with loved ones, and build a life that we enjoy. I specialize in working with women who are experiencing challenging life transitions, difficult or intense emotions, or feel stuck in deeply engrained patterns of behavior. Sorting through our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors alone is often overwhelming and confusing. Therapy provides a supportive space for you to process your experiences, identify and shift thoughts and behaviors that are no longer helpful, and take meaningful steps toward a peaceful and more satisfying life.

Are you feeling stuck, empty, or disconnected? You may be working harder than necessary because you are fighting against patterns that developed over years. If you find yourself getting stuck in the same patterns, in spite of yourself, there is a way to break free... to have peace about your past and to feel excitement and hope about your future. We all have wisdom and courage within us, but at times, we need help reconnecting with those strengths, and tools to move through difficult issues. If you're committed to breaking the cycle, contact me to take the first step.

Most of my clients are looking to reconnect with pleasure in some way — whether that's healing from sexual trauma, unmasking and accommodating their neurodivergence, embracing their queer identity, cultivating radical self love, working to unlearn internalized systems of oppression (patriarchy, white supremacy, homophobia, etc.), or any combination of those. If you're curious about how systems of oppression are impacting your relationship with yourself and others, or want to better understand how to treat yourself with loving kindness, I would love to support you.

I see the therapeutic process as a relationship between you and I where we begin to explore one's patterns, relationships, strengths, and challenges. In such exploration, one can find a deeper understanding of him/herself in order to move forward with a happy and productive life. My role is a partner, guide, and witness to your journey of becoming a more fulfilled you. I believe everyone is doing their best to survive and find happiness in their lives. Sometimes, our efforts can lead to maladaptive patterns. Therapy helps illuminate these patterns and guide you to develop new ones.

Are you feeling stressed out? Not getting along with others? Is your mind super busy or is it hard to think at all? Are you having trouble calming down and finding rest? Or are you shut down, stuck, unable to move? Every minute our internal experience is changing. Our nervous system is constantly moving up and down. We can feel worried, afraid, anxious one day, and isolated, sad, and exhausted the next. It’s totally normal for our system to fluctuate, but if we spend long periods in one state or another it can take a toll on our body, mind, and spirit.

How can I find a therapist in Denver?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
