I enjoy working with preteen/teens who struggle with depression, anxiety, and those questioning gender identity. I love watching them develop their own self confidence by becoming more funtional at home, school, and in personal relationships. I work with families to help them work together and take on life's challenges with their kids. I also enjoy working with women to build confidence and deal with anxiety and depression. In addition to that, I work with 212 Behavioral which is a parent focused program. We go into the home and help parents set up a routine and build a family vision with their kid(s).

Are you feeling alone, anxious, grieved, or deeply sad? Traumatic events and losses in life are very common, yet rarely discussed. They have a far-reaching impact on our lives, our relationships, our health, our work and our play. Also, research has found that the way we were cared for as children greatly impacts our relationships throughout life. For some of us, this can feel very overwhelming. The good news is that we can heal from past hurts and enjoy more contentment and peace of mind starting today. Using scientifically sound practices, we can actually change the way we think, feel, and relate to others.

Recognizing that your mental health is just as important as your physical health displays valuable insight. Asking for help does not suggest that you are weak, nor does it suggest that you are unable to handle your own concerns. In fact, your even considering therapy demonstrates self-awareness and suggests that you are ready to develop new strategies that will equip you with tools necessary to identify triggers, repair damaging patterns, and manage challenges that you may face. The aim of therapy is to thrive…to go forward renewed, equipped and empowered to advance with new life tools and greater insight.

You have tried everything and nothing seems to stick. You share your feelings and people just do not understand or do not seem to have the time. The life you want seems just beyond your grip no matter what blog you read or podcast you download. Therapy is different. Let's talk about what you most want in life and see what it is going to take to get there.

My approach centers upon building an honest and trusting relationship without judgment in order for you to begin healing and exploration. I use a variety of therapy techniques while providing emotional support to you and helping you to observe your thoughts and how they influence your daily life in your relationships, decisions, and moods. I believe successful results are built upon the strength of the relationship between the therapist and the individual, as well as your own willingness to be open about your feelings and receiving help. I feel that positive and negative experiences present opportunities for learning and growth.

My purpose is to help people who struggle with negative self-beliefs live a life they are proud of. Going through traumatic experiences can affect every aspect of one’s present life and lead to unhealthy life choices. The things that helped us get through and survive hard moments in our past can be the very things holding us back from living the life that we want now.

I walk beside adults and parents who are struggling with feeling alone, anxious, overwhelmed and overstimulated in effort to catalyze lasting mental and physical fortitude. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), an avid neurobiology nerd, an anti-inflammatory and active lifestyle enthusiast, and a passionate advocate for merging mind, body and soul in a holistic approach to therapy.  At times, it can seem as though we have tried everything, and yet nothing seems to help.  This is my very favorite part; where I get to meet you, breathe with you, and walk with you as we find hope again

Life brings you many challenges. You may be dealing with a roadblock and the future you were planning is no longer possible. Maybe you’ve just experienced a loss, are worrying constantly, or feel like a burden. If you’ve been feeling some of these negative emotions but trying to avoid them, you’re not alone. We all struggle at different times and it can be scary to even start the search for help. Many people feel ashamed or weak for seeking therapy, but I’m here to tell you that you are stronger for it. It takes a lot more courage to start therapy than to continue living in pain.

I understand that often the most difficult step in getting help is reaching out for the first time. I want you to know that I can empathize. I became a professional counselor and have a true passion for what I do because I know evidence-based counseling works. There is HOPE. I want my clients to know they have found a safe place and someone to walk with them through their healing journeys. My specialties are trauma, depression, anxiety, and attachment-related issues. I primarily use EMDR and CBT, as well as other evidence-based counseling techniques, such as IFS and AFTT-A.

How did it come to this? There’s a distance growing in your marriage, but you’re the only one willing to admit it. You repeatedly try to talk about it with your husband, but every time you do, he becomes defensive or brushes you off. “Why can’t he just listen and try to understand how I feel?” You’re so frustrated you want to scream! It’s painful to feel like you’re the only one making any effort. Sometimes you wonder if it’d be easier to just give up on this relationship altogether. But you’re not ready to throw in the towel yet. You know things could be better if only you could start communicating again. But you don’t know how.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Fort Worth?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
