The stigma behind psychotherapy is based on the notion that somehow asking for help and working with a professional means that one is weak. Ironically, this could not be further from the truth. Making the decision to look at your story and explore how patterns within it have impacted your goals, relationships, losses, parenting, work and outlook is profoundly difficult to do. It is looking at ourselves with the commitment to not look away until we have developed tools to build futures that give us joy and magnify our strengths. All while now knowing how to address our challenges more effectively.
I specialize in work with adolescents, young adults and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-injurious behavior, suicidal ideation, and ADHD, among other issues. My work relies most heavily on Psycho-dynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral informed therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
In addition to my belief that therapy is hard work, I strive to provide an environment that is warm yet direct, and offers a strong sense of safety and good humor as appropriate.
