I have several decades of experience in assessing and treating individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, interpersonal issues or coping with chronic diseases (e.g., cancer). My background is not only as a clinician in private practice, but as a former Chief Psychologist at a large university teaching hospital, researcher and professor. My extensive experience provides me with a wide-base of understanding of what works for whom and what does not.
My approach is practical, based primarily on cognitive behavioural principles, but I integrate interpersonal and psychodynamic approaches in order to understand the person's real-world context and lived experience. I often employ relaxation and hypnosis techniques as adjunct to therapy when appropriate, primarily for symptom management.
