Experiencing a mental health issue is more common than not, particularly regarding careers. When stress affects our ability to function on or off the job, it's time for help. Helping clients work through these challenges and reengage with their lives is what treatment is about. Based on a previous 25+ years as a career responder, I am familiar with stress, trauma, and maintaining balance. I also treat clients who have never worn a uniform. I see therapy goals as holistic and pragmatic by building understanding, strategies, and practices to build relief, resilience, support functioning, and recovery.
My focus is work-related stress in public sector front-line personnel. I have experience with employers, unions, the WSIB system, workplace cultures, and return to work/career transition, including early retirement.
I am happy to offer free, confidential initial phone consults of up to 30 minutes. Even if you're not sure treatment is warranted, a conversation may help clarify issues and decide what is best and most feasible for you. Even if you are currently doing relatively well, building strategies to maintain and improve your day-to-day life is always an investment.
