Hello! I am an attachment-oriented psychologist specializing in treating anxiety, stress, shame, trauma, and relational concerns. My practice is grounded in the belief that we are all hard-wired for connection. I believe that psychological distress is a symptom of disconnection. We can experience disconnection with ourselves, others, or both. I help people figure out what kind of connection they are looking for and how to get it. Sometimes this means having to shed old patterns in order to make room for new ones. For example, someone in a new relationship may need to learn how to let their guard down even though this seems scary.
I specialize in CBT and psychodynamic therapies. CBT helps people change the meaning of a belief in order to feel differently about it. Psychodynamic therapy helps people change long-standing relational patterns that are no longer working for them. I also have specialized training in Prolonged Exposure therapy for chronic PTSD.
If you are feeling stuck or spinning your wheels, I encourage you to reach out if you are ready. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I taught English in Japan (I speak fluent Japanese).
