I am a registered clinical psychologist, who works specifically with children, adolescents and families. I provide psychological assessments and evidence-based therapy to support individuals with various challenges, including anxiety, emotion regulation, ADHD, depression, attachment disturbance, trauma, family-related issues and behavioural concerns. In addition, I provide family therapy, parent training, and integrate Mindfulness-based practices into my approach. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process, and promote the resilience of youth by focusing on their strengths and involving parents in the therapeutic process.
For years I worked at North York General Hospital in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Program. I have also previously worked as a psychologist at Markham Stouffville Hospital in the Child and Adolescent Services, and Child Parent Resource Institute (CPRI) in their trauma and attachment clinic (ACES).
I carried out a series of Mindfulness-based groups at University of Toronto and York University as part of a research project for teens and their parents. For more information, please visit www.drcarlyshecter.com. Fees for service are covered by most extended health insurance plans.
